The connection we have with what we grow and consume is tied to historical practices, and experiences that have helped transform our food systems, and at times, brings us all together.
We’ve been inspired by so many talented folks who bring our individual heritage and customs together with sustainability and intentional practice. Check out these three chefs who are changing the face of the culinary field.
Cristeta Comerford serves as the Executive Chef of the White House—the first Filipino-American woman and the first minority to be named to the post since 2005. The appointment has made a huge impact on the industry, with some stating that, “For the first time, culinary artists of diverse identities could see themselves represented in one of America’s most prominent culinary teams.”
Roy Choi is a Korean American chef known as one of the architects of the modern food truck movement through Kogi BBQ by merging food and social media with community and honoring the street food culture that laid the path before him. He was named one of TIME's most influential people in 2016.
